Employee and Team Motivation Secrets
Building employee and team motivation can be a difficult! It is not easy to create an environment in which employees enjoy working -
and are motivated to achieve.
Sometimes it is hard to motivate yourself to motivate your team!
Fortunately, there are some simple tricks to keep your team motivated and producing their best work.
Arrive early! There is nothing so frustrating for an employee as to see the boss waltz in late. How can you respect – or follow
a leader – who never arrives on time? Lead by example! Arrive at work before your employees, and let your actions demonstrate the
level of motivation you expect from them.
Watch your body language! Moods and attitudes are contagious. The moment you walk through the door each morning, your body language
says it all! Slump your shoulders and drag your way into the office - and everyone around you will know that this is going to be long
day! And they will copy you.
Greet your staff. When you arrive at work, what is the first thing you do? Do you head straight for your desk? Or do you take time to
greet your colleagues?
People who race to their office – and never acknowledge those around them - create a rift between themselves and those on whom
they rely for success.
Inspirational leaders – and managers – take time to connect with their co-workers. Let your staff them know by your actions
that you care about them. Make them feel that they are an important asset to the company.
Follow these simple tips and you'll have a workforce that is motivated to improve and inspired to succeed.
Also, find ways to unite your people. Within your organization, build teams to achieve work targets.
Outside of work, organize team activities just to have fun. There is no better way to break down barriers, misunderstandings, prejudices,
insecurities, divisions, territories and hierarchies than by getting people to have fun together.
Get a group of people to juggle balls together or try to row a boat, and barriers melt away.
Teams unite people. Suddenly they have a feeling of belonging. They find new ways to support each other to achieve a common purpose.
Competition in teams or groups ignites team effort.
Games and activities outside of the work environment illustrate people's different strengths and working style preferences. We see skills
and attributes that we never new existed. We develop understanding – and from understanding comes mutual respect.
Create an environment in which new ideas are welcomed and shared.
Everyone like to be well paid. But surveys consistently remind us that, more than money, employees want to feel a) that they make a
valuable contribution, and b) that they are appreciated.
When your people believe that they make a strong contribution AND that it is appreciated, you no longer have to motivate them.
They will MOTIVATE YOU!
